The Tomb
The Tomb was a large-scale international art swap featuring over 60 artists and hosted by Light Grey Art Lab in June 2021. Each artist created editions of artwork to be exhibited in LGAL’s gallery in July and swapped with every artist.
For this project, I created a edition of 100 postcards inspired by the tomb of René de Chalon. This piece specifically focused on the nature of mourning and decay, and was accompanied with research into various mourning monuments and practices in Europe during the Middle Ages.
“The caverns are dark and dusty– it’s difficult to find your footing and to see the path forward. But then, you find it; the ancient tomb. The tomb is filled with treasures, artifacts, maps, codes, ancient relics, weapons, items for the afterlife, lore, and relics from days gone by.”
